Your heart has to be incredibly black not to dig Willy Wonka. Especially when performed entirely by children.

Yum?

Why do they have to close at 11:00pm?

Another Weekend Spent Pretending I'm Not in Utah

Confession: I’m about to go all granola. Please shake some sense into me if I start sporting a giant turd of a dreadlock.

First half of Sunday. Vintage Coats & Clarke pattern found here.

Second half of Sunday. Embroidery has become my favorite addiction. Vintage Coats & Clarke’s pattern found here.

I want to learn to do that!! Or knit. One or the other. However, my fear of being the single schoolteacher who knits/embroiders prevents me from learning these lovely skills.

I love embroidery. I also love to knit. For some reason I still feel slightly embarrassed when I tell people that. Like I am finally old, but I at least KNOW I’m not supposed to like that stuff. Pretty soon I guess I won’t care and then I’ll be really old or something. I so wish you lived near me so we could hang out and do old people stuff together!

My latest addiction has been going to the library and getting books. I heart books!

  • J.

Thank you, that is EXACTLY what dreads look like! And your little birdies are totally cute. :)

Love the vintage patterns, thanks for the link! I wished I lived in a world where it was acceptable for a woman my age to embroidery/knit/what have you, in public.

I swear I’ve seen that same embroidered flower on a quilt somewhere.

I tried embroidery and didn’t like it. crocheting was more my style. my grandma showed me how to make a granny-square blanket sitting around the heater in her country store (between customers) when I was a kid.

    scarlet hip,
They really are lovely skills, you should give ‘em a try!

    tori,
I know! I love doing old people stuff. I’ve decided to say F IT when it comes to being embarrassed about being crafty. I really don’t care what people thing of me…hence my love for embroidery, knitting and crafting in general. Otherwise I wouldn’t have made a plushy uterus doll.

    Burreetoe,
Library is a good addiction! It’s gotten me through many a hard spot. Lately I’m not with it enough to read…which should make this semester interesting at school. :-)

    J.,
I saw some kids at a concert last week (maybe 7 and 10 years old) with NASTY ASS poo-locks. That’s child abuse. If I were those kids I would run for the nearest Izod shirt and start rebelling with conservative clothes.

    Alikat,
I’ve decided that I don’t care what people think of me for knitting or embroidering. Been knitting on airplanes for a few years…and will soon be embroidering on some flights in September. It’s not like I’m embroidering clothing for my cat…though that’s not a bad idea.

    Bob,
My newfound love for embroidery had me thinking about embroidering quilt squares! I think it would be super cute on a quilt. Or even a handbag.

That’s cool that your grandma showed you how to crochet! I’ve enjoyed knitting but have never gotten a handle on crochet, even though I hear it’s easier.

Love the birdies! I fully expect something in exchange for the wiener dog.

Mmmm… pancakes. I need a good pancake in my life. And I love the embroidery. I never knew Road House could bring out such beauty!

oooh – i love the embroidery! everytime i see those cool new patterns they make now, i tell myself i want to learn how to embroider. but then something shiny catches my eye and i get distracted. very nice!

  • Amy

I love embroidery! The little birdies remind me of the Partridge Family. Super cute.

  • apollocreed

I once had dreads, so I know the fallout that will happen if you go that way. I’ll stop you for sure.

  • Crystal

if you go all granola on me, i’ll go all “straight married guy” on you.

    that should be enough motivation…

  • ubermilf

    I want pancakes.

  • The Grunt

You’re into needle work? Well then, you need to see my cock.

Were the kids a charming Gene Wilder Wonka production or the cracked out Johnny Depp kind? It’s Utah, so I gotta ask.

We need to plan a Coachman’s date. I can’t believe we’ve never gone there on an adventure. Red.Velvet.Upholstery.
