Love All Up In My Bidness

June 6th, 2008 · No Comments

It’s that time again…frumpasaurus times infinity. I need a reminder of happier things, so I can feel squishy and good inside again instead of dark, black and soggy hearted.

  1. When someone driving toward you flashes their lights to warn you of a cop car ahead.

  2. Playing Zombie of Love with my friend Stephanie’s little daughter, Mary Jane. I started walking around the kitchen like a zombie; she got scared, made an angry squeak and snapped, “Zombies are scary!” So I told her I was a zombie of LOVVVE! Zombily (yes I just made up a word) moaned and groaned my way to her. “I am a zombie of loooooooveeeeee. Must have hearts and kisses and puppy dogs and rainbows and princesses! Looooove! Pink! Hearts! Musssst! Haaavvve! Loooovvvve!” A few hours later when Steph and I returned from an errand, Mary Jane ran to greet us and squealed, “ZOMBIE OF LOVE!”

  3. Playing Scrabble with my mom…because it’s more like Balderscrabble. She is the queen of making up words.

  4. I am head over heels in love with Twilight. I heard about it awhile ago and thought, “Vampire, love, blah, blah, blah.” I’m no stranger to the vampire theme…though I will say that I loved Anne Rice’s vampire series until stupid ass Tom Cruise ruined it for me. I liked Bloodsucking Fiends by Christopher Moore (I also LOVED his Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal – hilfuckingarious) and honestly did not have high hopes for Twilight. Was I ever wrong! I can’t put this book down, though at the same time I am fearful it will end. Stephenie Meyer has seduced and enthralled me with the tale of Edward and Bella. What I want to know is, what’s a good Mormon girl doing writing a love story about vampires?

  5. Making crafty gifts for my loved ones.

  6. My new hair. Having my hair done always makes me feel better.

  7. Love my JackJack. Though anyone who spends more than ½ a sentence here knows that.

  8. The subversive melodic melody of The Ditty Bops. Who else could make “Why does blood turn brown when it dries” or “Dried up mucus in my nose” sound so beautifully twisted? Heart them and I heart Stephanie for sharing (once again) more awesome music with me.

  9. Friday. No explanation necessary.

  10. Girl dates.

Have a great weekend!! xoxo

    “Melodic melody”?

    I need more coffee.

  • Pants

    Or crack.

    It’s a toss up.

We miss the Zombie of Love! 4 weeks! We’ll be there for Cassi’s 10th b-day! Weeeeee! Sanrio, here we come! More exclamation points!!!!!!!!

  • sdragoc

PS Does “Twilight” not kill you with the way she writes about that feeling of first falling in love, the ache to be together every second, the promises of forever? It made me heart squeeze a little bit harder.

  • Pants

I hope the next 4 weeks go by damn quick!

And yes, the way Stephenie Myer writes about the feeling of first falling in love is addictive and totally all consuming. She freaking nailed it. Oddly enough, reading about vampire love gives me hope I’ll find my own black heart love, someday.

  • Sra

I love the Ditty Bops. They are the tits-screw.

  • Sarah

I see nothing here about a cuddle nest or abstinence pants. Weird.

  • Pants

    Sra,
    Fo sho!

    Sarah,
CRAP! I made a mental love list this morning in my car…and had both of those items included. My brain is still a bit depression fogged over. That’s it! I’m editing this shit to include both. Which I’m sure all the rss readers (all 3 of them) will love. :-)

  • Pants

I want a cocktail the size of my head.

  • Loralee

You’re not going to start making ‘I Heart Edward” screensavers, are you???

  • bob

Christopher Moore is a favorite of mine too. He’s written a sequel to Bloodsucking Fiends – You Suck. I’ve read all of his stuff. Lamb is a particular favorite, so is Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove and Fluke.

  • mickey

See! I tell people that Utah is cool and that there are even cool people there, but no one believes me. Some of them even cuss!

Seriously, I come by way of Stephanie. Nice to meet you. And sorry I didn’t have a comment specific to your post. Rock on.

  • meggypoo

I loved the Twilight series as well… knocked ‘em all out in about 5 days. Although I was pissed that it gave me hope and made me feel all gooey inside. Screw hope.

With regards to Friday, girl dates, and drinks the size of your head… We’re merely hours my dear. Woo hoo!

  • ak

Have a great weekend, Pants. I love your warm and fuzzy posts.

  • Thérèse

“Soggy hearted” = possibly the best expression I’ve heard all week. Have a lovely weekend, Pantsy!

  • Thérèse

Does your mom make you believe that they’re real words?

I ask because my mother is the champion at making me believe things that are patently, obviously, definitively untrue. It’s her secret power. And I wonder if it is an all mothers thing, or a my mother thing.

  • lostinutah

We all need to remind why we are happy sometimes. Because it makes us happy again. I think I am in dire need of that myself.

    Have a great weekend.

  • sprizee

Oh! I read Twilight a couple weeks ago in like 3 days. I loved it!

  • rockandcookies

I love the Zombie of Love story. Also as a side note I am listening to Hilary Duff. Just needed to confess.

  • matty03

The Ditty Bops always brighten up any day!

And, I’m glad you’re the Zomblie of Love!

  • The Grunt

What we need more of in this world is the Zombie of Love. Are you ready for that calling, Pants?

  • Pants

    Loralee,
I hadn’t even thought of that, but now that you mention it….

    bob,
I’ll have to check out the Bloodsucking Fiends sequel when I’m through with my Twilight obsession.

    mickey,
No problem, nice to meet you!

    meggypoo,
    Girl dates rule.

    ak,
Was nice to see you this weekend…not once, but twice! :-)

    Thérèse,
I like the way soggy hearted sounds better than feels.

    lostinutah,
    I know I do!

    sprizee,
Finished it and I’m nearly done with New Moon…which I’m liking better now that I’m near the end. Not that it will stop me from frantically reading the next one!

    rockandcookies,
Ooo! Was fun to see you this weekend!

    matty03,
Ditty Bops rule…so does the Zombie of Love!

    The Grunt,
Calling? Like lay your hands on my head with a blessing and shit? :-)

  • Lara

These are all perfect things!! The Zombie of Love cracked me up. Also, I adore Stephenie Meyer, too. How hilariously dramatic and awesome are her books? WAY hilariously dramatic and awesome, I say.

  • Essentially Me

    Girl dates are the best!

And I read the Twilight series over my Christmas holiday and loved it so much I’ve turned three girlfriends into fanatics. I can’t wait for the third book .. and the movie!
