Today I attended the Live Blogging Thingy ’08. I have met quite a few bloggers but this was the first time I’ve participated in a live event. I enjoyed it very much and would gladly join future blogging thingys. Big hooray to Jon for being the idea man!
Also interesting (in a completely nerding-myself-out way), the Salt Lake City Library is totally fucking rad! I want to go back and wander around when I have more time.
On my way home I stopped by Steve & Barry’s because I was desperately in need of some retail therapy. Since moving in with my parents and returning to school, I have had a wee bit of trouble adjusting to a part-time salary. Which is why I end up shopping at places like Steve & Barry’s…it’s either that, or D.I. (the Mormon version of Goodwill).
Observations from Steve & Barry’s
- At first I thought that their prices must be so low from employing sweatshops…but now realize they must pay their staff with jellybeans. Seriously, I’ve had better service at the DMV. I was the next-person-in-line for more than ten minutes while three staff members (unsuccessfully) rang up one customer.
- Straight leg, low rise jeans are NOT meant for girls who’ve “got back.”
- Which leads me to wonder why I continue to try them on?
- I have no business wearing clothes with odd number sizing.
- After using the restroom it became EXTREMELY apparent they are not spending their money on cleaning. There were three visible fluids/substances…my gift to you is leaving that up to your
imaginationhorrification.
I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. Just kidding! Though I was dying to say that today when I finished my reading. It’s been a loooong time since I’ve stood at a podium in front of a group.

You were totally awesome.
Nicely done.
And no way do you need Kate Winslet ‘shopped over you!
:-]
I no longer trust blogrolling. It lies to me. You’ve been a very busy blogger.
Women who have “back” rule!
jon deal,
Thanks Jon! I don’t really think I need Kate Winslet ‘shopped over me, but she is pretty damn hot!
electric boogaloo,
I used blogrolling for about a second a million years ago. I didn’t like it. Now I use (and LOVE) google reader. You should check it out.
yournamehere,
I RULE! (Thanks!)
Glad the blogger thing was cool – hey, I work full time and I love Steve and Barry’s. Those Bitten jeans are comfy indeed and meant for someone with “back”. As I move towards implementing my plan to be unemployed and live off my spouse, that place will become even more important to my life and those of my kids, I am sure.
Now, don’t make fun of me — and I ALWAYS wash before I wear, but I find some kick ass clothing at the Goodwill near Japantown and Out of the Closet rocks! …you never know what you might find!
Is a Morman Goodwill different from a SF Goodwill?
Or, is that just a stupid question.
You know, I’d work good and hard for jelly bellies! I would I tell you! I would!
You did great at the bloggy thingy. Oh, and I “accidently” took a picture of SarahBellum’s ass…and YOU were looking at it in the photo. So now I don’t feel so gay.
lostinutah,
The Smitten jeans do look mighty fine on my “back”!
matty,
I didn’t mean to infer that I’m anti-goodwill. BUT there seems to be a very large difference between SF Goodwill and Utah Mormon Goodwill. I think you have to look at how SF dresses (as a whole) compared to say, Utah: a place where sweats abound. In fact! I’m wearing sweats right now! Now that I’m an official resident I have to wear sweats at least four times per week or they revoke my residency. At least they’re not making me wear secret underwear!
Next time I’m in the bay area I hope that we can meet up for drinks or something…I’ll come prepared with lots of jelly bellies, ready to see you perform tricks!
Sterkworks,
“Accidentally”? Didn’t we tell you that we met through sex? Ha ha!
Odd number sizing? I don’t even enter that department.
I’m telling you, someone needs to develop clothes for the “kinda chunky, but not really fat” girls out there.
My mother in law buys me stuff there all the time. It seems like pretty good cheap clothes, although I have never actually been to the store. She buys me a size small though, and since it fits my 10 year old daughter, I don’t feel bad about not being able to wear it. Did you find that their stuff ran small? Because everything I have had from there sure did!
I’d totally do Kate Winslet and I’m only 23.9% lesbian.
P.S.
SO great meeting you. You cracked me up. AND? Damn, I had zero idea there was a Steve & Barry’s in SLC. I have been wanting to check out Sarah Jessica’s “Bitten” line and see if it sucks or not. Although, after this I am not so sure!
P.S.S
TOTALLY wanted to say the same thing at the podium. Hee.
Your testimony made me feel the spirit, for realsies.
